A Brief History
In 1945 Dr. John Taylor and his wife, Dr. Elizabeth Taylor, while doing medical mission work, were approached by a group of leper patients and asked to start a home and school for their children. With the help of a small group of sponsors, the gift of a bungalow and seven acres of land, 12 boys moved to the campus in a rural village setting, and this was the beginning of the Children's Home. From the start, the vision was for a home environment, caring and nurturing the whole person, body, mind and soul. The motto for the Home was taken from John 10:10b "I have come that they might have life, and have it more abundantly."
The Children's Home has expanded with a branch home in another town, which was started in 1980. Two smaller branch homes were operated in the nearby area, but they were discontinued due to shortage of finances and administrative difficulties. Education has always been a central emphasis of the homes. Home Academy was started at the main campus in 1974 and a primary school was later started at the branch campus.
Each campus has adequate dormitory space, dining halls that double as study halls, kitchen facilities, dispensary, office, staff housing, play areas, gardens and fruit trees.
Number of children in the homes as of Nov. 2011.
| Enrollment | Main Campus | Branch Campus | Total |
| Boys | 124 | 36 | 160 |
| Girls | 174 | 85 | 259 |
| Total | 298 | 121 | 419 |
The number of students studying at Home Academy is about 540 (298 home children, 20 children of teachers and staff and the rest are day students from the surrounding area)
